Berks County Medical Society has been working diligently with our County and State stakeholders to address your inquiries concerning the Vaccine rollout. Below you will find important information regarding the administration of the vaccine for you and your staff. Please note, provider information is subject to change and expand. Therefore, please continue to monitor this site during the vaccination roll out.

Tower Health

We are working with our colleagues at Tower Health to develop a process through which vaccine for COVID-19 can be administered to community-based healthcare workers unaffiliated with Tower Health or other hospitals, health systems or long-term care facilities. This is consistent with the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s guidance to prioritize healthcare workers as described in the PA DOH Interim COVID-19 Vaccination Plan.

According to the Department of Health healthcare personnel identified as Tier 1-A “may include, but are not limited to, emergency medical service personnel, nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, technicians, therapists, phlebotomists, pharmacists, students and trainees, direct support professionals, clinical personnel in school settings or correctional facilities, contractual staff not employed by the health care facility,” and others. 

Tower Health will open first-come, first-serve appointment scheduling of vaccine administration through TowerHealth.org. 

Using this link, you will be able to select a location to receive the vaccine, schedule your appointment, and also request a MyTowerHealth account if you do not already have one.

There is no cost to you for receiving the vaccine.   

Please remember these important points:

• If no appointments are available, it just means that our current supply of vaccine has been allocated. Additional appointments will open as we receive more vaccine. Please keep checking the web site.

• At the time of vaccination, you will be asked to provide verification of your status as a Tier 1-A individual, such as an employee badge or other supporting identification.

• Successful vaccination requires two doses, either 21 or 28 days apart, depending on which vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) you receive. Your follow up shot will be scheduled when you receive your first shot.

• Even after vaccination, you should continue to wear a mask in public, avoid large crowds, and wash your hands frequently.

St. Joseph Medical Center

Penn State Health St. Joseph will begin to allocate a percentage of our vaccines each week to administer to our valued community partners.

Beginning Monday, January 11, Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center will hold vaccine clinics by appointment only for community practitioners and health care personnel, including EMS staff, who have direct or indirect exposure to patients.

The vaccination clinic is located in the lobby of St. Joseph Medical Center, 2500 Bernville Road, Reading. We are using the room marked as “1A Community,” next to the outpatient lab. Valet parking is available for your convenience.
